Building Sabbatical in Wellington. Following a bereavement, I took time away from Architecture to build my own house. I undertook almost all aspects of the project including foundations, blockwork, timber framing, zinc cladding, plastering and paint. This was a challenging project which taught me a lot about myself and helped me through a difficult time.

Generally the projects were developer led, with the end client being affordable housing for Housing Associations. Initially I spent two years with Forge (2001-3), and following a two year spell in NZ (2003-5), returned to London twice further for a year each time. This job gave me excellent experience in designing large scale apartment buildings.
